Abstract
Static archival services require access strategies that can reach the public widely and sustainably. The development of digital technology provides opportunities for archival institutions to present archival services in more adaptive formats, one of which is through virtual exhibitions. The Department of Archives and Library of Kendal Regency organized the virtual exhibition “Rumah Kendal” as a strategy to expand access and enhance public engagement with static archives. This study aims to analyze the virtual exhibition as a strategy for optimizing static archival services, focusing on the stages of implementation, the forms of services provided, and the scope of archival content exhibited. This research employs a qualitative approach through observation, interviews with involved staff, and document and literature review. The findings indicate that the implementation of the virtual archival exhibition consists of several stages, including theme planning, material collection and curation, archival digitization, content development, virtual display design, testing, as well as publication and exhibition implementation. The exhibited content covers archival management and library services, innovations and awards, the history and culture of Kendal, and the Dinarpus Podcast program. These findings demonstrate that virtual exhibitions function as archival service media based on authentic records that expand access while strengthening the educational and informational dissemination functions of archival institutions.
