Abstract

The implementation of sustainable regional development planning faces global challenges, including increasing urbanization rates, limited natural resources, lack of food security, and climate change. At the local level, Sumedang Regency faces challenges in implementing its regional development, namely optimizing local natural resources; low food security; declining growth in added value in the agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sectors; lack of improvement in the quality and quantity of facilities, infrastructure, and environmental utilities, as well as habitable housing; and lack of disaster mitigation and adaptation and climate change. Therefore, through physical and environmental analysis using Google Earth Engine, which includes Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) data sets, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Digital Elevation Model (DEM), Land Contours, and Climate Condition data, it will provide a physical and environmental description of geospatial data and climate change in its region that can be used as a reference in formulating sustainable regional development planning policies. The results of the study show that policies that can be formulated to be implemented in sustainable regional development planning in Sumedang Regency is determination of the location of the planned development of functional areas; planning of integrated clean water management systems and community-based wastewater treatment plants in each region; planning that includes the development, maintenance and monitoring of community-based irrigation networks in each region; planning of primary drainage and infiltration wells in each region; planning that includes the construction, development and procurement of urban infrastructure maintenance in areas located in lowland areas that are built and strengthening of building structures in areas located in highland areas; direction of landslide disaster mitigation plans in areas with steep topography conditions that include counseling, education and simulation; planning for the development of solar power plants and wind power plants in potential areas.
