The Manilkara journal receives quality articles that are original and relevant in the fields of biological and applied sciences, as well as biotechnology. The evaluation of articles is carried out based on important and actual issues, as well as the impact and benefits on the national and international scientific community, policy makers, and the wider community.

Submission of manuscripts can be made at any time and will be published in accordance with the order of manuscripts approved by peer review and editors. Authors can check the status of the submitted manuscript in the submission system.

Editorial Process

Administrative staff and technical team assist the author in the administrative process during the journal review process until the article is published. The administrative staff also helps to communicate between the writer and the editor as well as information regarding the provisions and process of articles published in Manilkara. In addition, the administrative staff ensures that the format is following the template determined by Manilkara.

The editorial team helps deal with manuscript substance problems from the initial submission until the manuscript is published. For the published manuscripts to be of good quality and objective in the manuscript review process, the editor of Manilkara collaborates with the Reviewer Team (Peer Review) who are very competent and have no doubts about their ability in the field of biology.

To produce an objective manuscript, in addition to facilitating reviews and input from the reviewer team, the editor together with the reviewer team makes a decision on the acceptance and publication of the manuscript.

Review Process

The review process will be carried out using an application, so before submitting it must be ensured in advance that the template is in accordance with the desired Manikara journal.

If the manuscript is ready, in order to speed up the process and ensure that all the information needed to make a decision is recorded, then you can submit it via the application. At the time of submitting we require confirmation that the work is not being submitted elsewhere.

This is the flow of article review process.

Editors are academic staff who have expertise in accordance with the scope of the Manilkara Journal.
  3. If the manuscript is in accordance with the scope, substance, and format of the Manilkara journal, then the manuscript will be forwarded to Peer review.
    • Peer review consists of 2 people for each manuscript who will provide reviews and notes on the manuscript based on expertise in their field.
    • If it is not appropriate, it will be returned to the author to be corrected and re- (note: questions related to the journal and its completeness are made via email manilkarajurnal@ecampus.ut.ac.id and not through the process flow).
  4. After the review process is complete, the editor will summarize all notes and reviews from the two reviewers to make it easier for the author to make improvements.
  5. After making detailed improvements according to the reviewer's notes, the author re-uploads the results of the repair complete with data that must be included according to the reviewer's input. This process can be repeated until all corrections have been made and the manuscript is eligible for publication.
  6. Pre-printed articles that are ready to be published will be given to authors for final checking and approval signatures.

Some things to note are:

  • A statement from the authors that the article submitted is not in process or will be issued elsewhere.
  • Compliance with editorial and review processes and ethical standards.
  • Reviewers will appear anonymous

Decision

Decisions can be:

  1. Rejected if the manuscript does not meet the criteria related to originality, does not match the field of science, methodology, inconsistent results and discussions, and other substance problems.
  2. Revision with the following criteria.
  • Major revision: the results of the study are appropriate but there are insufficient data and it is necessary to add the required amount of data so that the authors are asked to complete the experimental data. In this case authors are encouraged to submit a new version and resubmit if they are interested in continuing after getting notes from reviewers.
  • Medium revision: authors are asked to add technical deficiencies in the article, such as clarifying the methodology, adding linkages between results and analysis, clarifying analysis, adding primary references, adding references from relevant articles, etc.
  • Minor revision: only textual and format revisions are available
  1. Accepted without revision if the article in terms of format is in accordance with the requirements and in terms of substance it meets the qualifications, is novelty, and has a significant impact on science and the wider community.

Appeal

An appeal can be made by sending an official appeal letter to the Manilkara journal email: manilkara@ecampus.ut.ac.id by providing reasons and proof of documents/notes. An appeal by the author will only be considered if the reviewer or editor has made a significant error in terms of substance and objectivity referring to the stored document which can then change the original decision.

Appeals will be discussed between reviewers and editors. The decision on the appeal will be given after discussion, and it is possible to request data from the authors.

During the appeal process, the manuscript is still under the authority of the Manilkara journal and cannot be sent to other journals. The decision on appeal is final without exception.
