Kemampuan Ganggang Ceratophyllum demersum Sebagai Bioindikator Dan Fitoremediasi Terhadap Bahan Pencemar Air Deterjen

Pencemaran air akibat limbah deterjen rumah tangga semakin meningkat dan berdampak negatif terhadap keseimbangan ekosistem perairan. Kandungan surfaktan yang terdaapat pada deterjen yaitu Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate (LAS) dapat menurunkan kadar oksigen terlarut serta menghambat pertumbuhan organisme akuatik. Salah satu upaya penanggulangan pencemaran dengan fitoremediasi menggunakan ganggang air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan Ceratophyllum demersum sebagai fitoremediasi sekaligus bioindikator pada air yang tercemar bahan deterjen. Ceratophyllum demersum dapat menunjukkan respon fisiologis terhadap air cemaran deterjen seperti perubahan warna, penurunan laju fitosintesis, dan penurunan biomassa tanaman. Air yang tercemar bahan deterjen mengalami penurunan kadar surfaktan anionik secara signifikan melalui proses penyerapan dan degradasi biologis oleh mikroorganisme epifitik yang berasosiasi dengan permukaan ganggang Ceratophyllum demersum. Berdasarkan kemampuan Ceratophyllum demersum, dapat berpotensi tinggi digunakan dalam sistem fitoremediasi alami dan indikator biologis awal terhadap pencemaran air deterjen di perairan.
