Author Guidelines – Study of Applied Marketing Journal (SAMJ)

We invite authors to carefully review and adhere to the following guidelines when preparing manuscripts for submission to the Study of Applied Marketing Journal (SAMJ). Compliance with our formatting and submission standards is essential; manuscripts that fail to meet these requirements will not be considered for peer review.

All manuscripts must follow the official SAMJ template, which is available for download here: [Template and Author Guidelines]. The template serves as a direct representation of the structure expected for publication. Authors should “Save As” the template file and paste their content into the appropriate sections. All submissions must be written in English and exhibit a high level of academic and editorial quality.

Submission Specifications

  • Word Count: Manuscripts should be between 6,000 to 8,000 words, including the abstract.
  • Structure: Submissions should be organized in the following order:
Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review (optional), Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
  • Referencing Style: Use the APA (American Psychological Association) Style for all in-text citations and references. We recommend using citation management tools such as EndNote, Zotero, or Mendeley.

Title Page

The manuscript title should be written in Times New Roman, 16 pt, with each significant word capitalized (excluding conjunctions). Please include the author’s full name(s), institutional affiliation(s), and the corresponding author’s email address beneath the title.

Abstract

The abstract, written in Times New Roman, 10 pt, should provide a succinct summary (150–200 words) of the study’s purpose, design/methodology/approach, key findings, and originality or value. Optional components may include research limitations, practical implications, or social implications. The abstract should clearly convey the essence of the research to readers at a glance.

Keywords

Include 2 to 5 keywords, arranged alphabetically and separated by a semicolon (;), to assist in indexing and discoverability.

Introduction

The introduction should outline the background and context of the research, clearly state the objectives, and define both theoretical and practical contributions. If applicable, it may also highlight preliminary findings or implications. Authors are encouraged to integrate a literature review within the introduction, emphasizing prior work, identifying gaps in the field, and articulating the study’s novelty and relevance.

Literature Review (Optional / May Be Integrated in Introduction)

If included as a separate section, the literature review should not merely summarize past research but should critically analyze relevant works, establish theoretical foundations, and spotlight unresolved issues that the current study addresses. Authors are strongly advised to cite recent publications (preferably within the last 10 years) from reputable, indexed sources such as Scopus or Web of Science.

Methodology

This section should describe the research design, sampling or subject selection, measurement tools, data collection procedures, and analytical methods (e.g., regression, SEM, or other statistical models). Definitions and measurements of variables must be clearly stated.

Results and Discussion

Present the findings in a clear and structured manner, supported by tables, graphs, or descriptive statistics. Interpretation of results should address the research questions and hypotheses. The discussion should link findings to existing literature, offer theoretical insights, and consider practical relevance, particularly in marketing applications.

Conclusion

Summarize the study’s key contributions to marketing knowledge and practice. Highlight the implications, limitations, and recommendations for future research. Practical implications should offer actionable insights for practitioners, while research limitations may guide the direction of future studies.

References

All cited works must appear in the References section, formatted according to the APA style and listed alphabetically. Authors should cite only sources they have read and understood, prioritize primary sources(especially journal articles), and avoid excessive self-citation. Referencing should align with the conventions seen in previously published SAMJ articles.

Final Note

Submissions that do not follow the template or deviate from these guidelines will be returned without review. By submitting to SAMJ, you ensure that your work meets the highest standards in marketing scholarship and academic publishing.
