The present study is concerned with the translation shifts in translating English adjective clauses in the Charter of the United Nations and Statute of the International Court of Justice into Indonesian. It aimed to identify the translation shifts that occurred in the translation of the legal documents. The study employed a qualitative method. The data were collected from the original document of the Charter of the United Nations and Statute of the International Court of Justice in English and its Indonesian translation version. The data were collected employing note-taking techniques. The method of data collection was content analysis and the method of data analysis was interactive data analysis. The results of the study showed that there were four types of translation shifts that occurred in the translation of the documents into Indonesian, i.e. level shift (7 data), unit shift (2 data), structural shift (5 data), class shift (4 data), and intra-system shift (7 data). This showed that level shift and intra-system shift are the two types of shifts that predominantly occurred in the translation of the documents.
