Vokal: Jurnal Ilmiah Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (e-ISSN: 2962-9810) applies a two-stage manuscript evaluation process consisting of pre-review and substantive review. During the pre-review stage, the editorial team assesses the manuscript’s suitability for the journal’s focus and scope, writing style, and author guidelines. Plagiarism screening is conducted using Google Scholar and Turnitin. This initial stage takes approximately 3–4 weeks.

The substantive review is conducted by at least two reviewers. Although the journal’s initial description refers to single-blind review, its stated editorial policy also specifies double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other to promote objectivity and minimize bias. The review process generally takes 5–10 weeks, and reviewers may request further revisions or re-review. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on the reviewers’ recommendations. Accepted manuscripts that have completed the layout process may be published in the In Progress section before the scheduled regular issue, allowing earlier indexing and citation.

The journal’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy emphasizes academic integrity and human responsibility. Authors may use AI tools to improve language, grammar, and formatting but must not use them to fabricate or manipulate research data, analysis, or references; significant AI use must be disclosed. Editors may use AI for technical and administrative assistance, while reviewers may use it to support comprehension, grammar checking, or citation verification. However, editorial decisions and review recommendations must remain human-driven, and manuscript confidentiality must be maintained. These policies aim to ensure a fair, transparent, ethical, and academically rigorous publication process.
