About the Journal

The International Journal of Didactic Mathematics in Distance Education (IJDMDE) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to advancing research at the intersection of didactic mathematics and digitally mediated distance education. It provides a scholarly platform for researchers and practitioners to explore how didactical theories, instructional design, and educational technologies can be integrated to enhance mathematics teaching and learning across educational levels. IJDMDE emphasizes the transformation of mathematics education through digital innovation, focusing not only on the content being taught but also on the design and mediation of learning experiences, particularly in online, hybrid, and remote learning environments. With a commitment to inclusive, adaptive, and contextually grounded approaches, the journal publishes both theoretical and empirical studies that offer strong foundations for technology-enhanced mathematics education. IJDMDE welcomes research involving cutting-edge technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), flipped classrooms, interactive digital media, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). These studies aim to improve students’ conceptual understanding, mathematical representation, problem-solving abilities, and cognitive engagement through innovative didactical interventions. What sets IJDMDE apart is its unique focus on the integration of didactical theory with technological approaches in the specific context of distance mathematics education. Unlike journals that emphasize pedagogy or technology in isolation, IJDMDE provides a comprehensive scholarly space that bridges the depth of mathematics education theory with practical and contextually relevant implementations of digital learning.

Journal Publication Workflow Timeline

Pre-Submission Requirements
Authors must use the International Journal of Didactic Mathematics in Distance Education template and follow all author guidelines. Single-author papers are only allowed for invited authors or those with strong research credentials. Manuscripts must be proofreadchecked for similarity, and include a proofreading certificate (starting 2026). Any submission that does not follow the guidelines, scope, or language requirements will be rejected. Authors must register and log in to submit and track their manuscripts.

AI Usage Policy

The International Journal of Didactic Mathematics in Distance Education (IJDMDE) permits the use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools solely for language refinement and technical assistance, such as grammar correction, clarity improvement, and proofreading, while all ideas, findings, and conclusions remain the full intellectual responsibility of the author(s). Authors must transparently disclose any use of GenAI tools in their manuscript, specifying the tool used and its purpose; if no AI tools were used, a negative declaration must be included. As part of its desk review process, IJDMDE employs Turnitin AI Detection to screen all submitted manuscripts prior to peer review, with results used solely to verify consistency with the author's disclosure statement. IJDMDE does not impose a fixed AI content threshold, in line with standards set by Elsevier, Springer Nature, and COPE, and all editorial decisions are based on human judgment encompassing the adequacy of disclosure, consistency between declared and detected AI use, and the overall scientific integrity of the work. Any inconsistency between detection results and the author's disclosure will be treated as a potential policy violation and handled accordingly. This policy will be periodically reviewed to ensure alignment with evolving ethical publishing standards and Scopus indexing requirements.

ANNOUNCEMENT
The Editorial Board of the International Journal of Didactic Mathematics in Distance Education (IJDMDE) hereby announces that, effective 1 January 2027, all manuscript submissions must comply with the updated journal template. In addition, authors whose manuscripts have undergone peer review are required to submit a formal Author Response to Reviewer document, addressing each reviewer comment individually in the prescribed format, accompanied by a revised manuscript with Track Changes enabled to clearly indicate all modifications made. The updated template, Author Response to Reviewer format, and Track Changes guidelines will be available for download on the journal's official website at https://jurnal.ut.ac.id/index.php/ijdmde starting Mei 2026.
