Archiving Policy

At the JHCE, we value the long-term preservation and accessibility of scholarly content. To ensure the archiving and preservation of our published articles, we have partnered with the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN) and utilize the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems. Here is some information regarding our archiving policy using PKP PN:

  1. PKP PN Partnership
We have established a partnership with PKP PN, a global preservation network dedicated to archiving and preserving scholarly publications. PKP PN provides us with a secure and reliable infrastructure for archiving our content.

  2. Content Preservation
Through our collaboration with PKP PN, we ensure the preservation of the full-text content of our published articles, including associated metadata, supplementary files, and any additional content. This comprehensive preservation approach safeguards the integrity and accessibility of our content for future reference and research.

  3. PKP PN Network
PKP PN is a distributed preservation network that utilizes a network of archival nodes located worldwide. This distributed model ensures redundancy and mitigates the risk of data loss, as multiple copies of our content are securely stored in different geographic locations.

  4. Archiving Standards
PKP PN adheres to industry standards and best practices in digital preservation. By leveraging their expertise and infrastructure, we ensure that our archiving policy aligns with established preservation principles to guarantee the long-term usability and integrity of our content.

  5. Archiving Process
The archiving process using PKP PN is seamless and automatic. Once an article is published in our journal, it is automatically ingested into the PKP PN preservation network. This ensures that the content is preserved in a timely and efficient manner.

  6. Accessibility of Archived Content
The archived content is made accessible through the PKP PN network. Researchers, scholars, and the public can access the archived articles through the PKP PN platform, which provides a user-friendly interface for browsing and retrieving preserved content.

  7. Permanent URLs
Each article archived through PKP PN is assigned a persistent identifier, such as a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). These permanent URLs serve as stable links, enabling reliable access and citation of the preserved content over time.

  8. Metadata Preservation
Along with the full-text content, PKP PN also preserves the associated metadata of the articles, including authors' information, abstracts, keywords, publication dates, and citation details. Preserving metadata enhances discoverability and facilitates accurate referencing of the archived articles.
