Author Guidelines

 

Research Articles

Research Articles present original research findings addressing a specific research question or topic. The manuscript should provide a clear research background, appropriate theoretical or conceptual foundation, rigorous methodology, systematic presentation of findings, and a discussion of the findings in relation to relevant literature.

Research Articles normally range from 4,000 to 7,000 words. The manuscript should demonstrate originality, methodological rigor, and a clear contribution to research and practice in STEM education.

Systematic Review

Systematic Reviews provide a structured and comprehensive synthesis of relevant research on a clearly defined topic or research question. The review should employ a transparent and systematic procedure for identifying, selecting, evaluating, and synthesizing relevant studies.

The review should clearly describe the literature search strategy, inclusion and exclusion criteria, study selection procedures, and approach to analysis or synthesis. Systematic Reviews normally range from 3,000 to 5,000 words.

Meta-Analysis

Meta-Analysis manuscripts statistically integrate findings from multiple relevant studies to provide a quantitative synthesis of existing evidence. The manuscript should clearly describe the systematic search and selection procedures, eligibility criteria, data extraction process, statistical methods, and interpretation of the combined results.

Meta-Analysis manuscripts normally range from 3,000 to 5,000 words and should provide a rigorous and transparent synthesis that contributes to a clearer understanding of the evidence within a specific area of STEM education research.

Editorial Article

Editorial Articles provide scholarly perspectives, critical reflections, or discussions of important developments and emerging issues relevant to STEM education and the scope of IJRSE.

Editorial Articles are reserved for members of the IJRSE Editorial Team or authors specifically invited or assigned by the Editorial Team. Unsolicited Editorial Articles are not accepted through the regular submission process.

Editorial Articles normally range from 2,000 to 5,000 words.

General Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts must be submitted online in Microsoft Word format and written in English. All pages should use 1.5 line spacing, preferably Cambria 10.5 pt, including references, with 2.75 cm margins on all sides.

The manuscript length should follow the requirements specified for the selected manuscript category.

Files Required for Submission

Authors submitting a manuscript for peer review are required to prepare two separate files: a Title Page and an Anonymous Article. The official formats for both files are available through the Article Template.

Title

The article title should normally contain no more than 15 words. It should be concise, informative, and accurately represent the main focus of the manuscript. Author names and affiliations should appear only on the Title Page and must not appear in the Anonymous Article.

Abstract

The abstract should provide a concise overview of the purpose of the study, the approach or method used, and the principal findings or contribution. Technical jargon and uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. The abstract should not exceed 250 words.

Keywords

Keywords should accurately represent the principal topics and concepts addressed in the manuscript and facilitate indexing, searching, and discoverability of the article.

Introduction

The introduction should provide sufficient background to establish the context and significance of the research. It should identify relevant previous studies, explain the research problem or gap, and demonstrate the scientific merit or novelty of the study.

The objectives or research questions should be clearly stated toward the end of the introduction.

Literature Review

The literature review should provide an appropriate theoretical, conceptual, or empirical foundation for the study. It should move beyond a descriptive summary of previous studies by critically examining, comparing, and synthesizing relevant literature.

Where appropriate to the nature of the research, the literature review may be integrated into the Introduction rather than presented as a separate section.

Research Method

The Research Method section should provide sufficient information to explain how the study was designed and conducted. Relevant information may include the research design, participants or data sources, instruments, procedures, data collection, analytical techniques, and ethical considerations where applicable.

Established methods should be appropriately referenced, while modifications or adaptations should be clearly explained.

For Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses, authors should clearly describe the search strategy, databases or sources used, eligibility criteria, selection procedures, and methods of analysis or synthesis. Where appropriate, the study selection process should be presented using a flowchart or flow diagram.

A conventional Research Method section is not mandatory for Editorial Articles.

Findings and Discussion

The findings should present the principal results of the study clearly and systematically. The discussion should interpret the findings in relation to the research objectives, theoretical or conceptual framework, and relevant previous studies.

Authors should explain the significance of the findings, identify agreements or differences with previous research, and clarify the contribution and implications of the study.

Conclusion

The conclusion should directly address the objectives or research questions and clearly state the main contribution of the study. It should explain how the findings advance understanding, research, policy, or practice in the relevant area of STEM education.

Limitations and Further Research

Authors should identify relevant limitations related to the research design, methodology, data, scope, or interpretation of findings. Recommendations for further research should identify meaningful opportunities to extend, replicate, or further investigate the issues arising from the study.

Acknowledgement (Optional)

Authors may acknowledge individuals, institutions, funding agencies, grants, or other forms of support that contributed to the research. Acknowledgements should appear on the Title Page and must be removed from the Anonymous Article during peer review.

Tables

Tables should be numbered consecutively according to their appearance in the manuscript and should be cited in the text. Each table should have a concise and informative title placed above the table. Tables should be presented clearly and formatted consistently to ensure readability.

Figures and Graphs

Figures and graphs should be relevant to the manuscript and presented at professional publication quality. Each figure or graph should be numbered consecutively and accompanied by a clear caption placed below the figure.

Images should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and should preferably be provided in JPG format to minimize layout problems. High-resolution versions should also be uploaded separately through the OJS submission system when required.

Footnotes

Footnotes should be used only when essential to provide additional information that cannot be appropriately incorporated into the main text. Endnotes should be kept to a minimum.

References

Citations and references must follow APA style. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, or Zotero to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Every reference cited in the manuscript must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be cited in the text.

Manuscripts should normally include at least 30 references, with approximately 80% of the references drawn from reputable scholarly journals. Where available, the DOI should be included for journal articles.

Appendix

Appendices should be identified using letters and should include a clear descriptive title. Each appendix should be cited appropriately in the manuscript.

Authors who already have an IJRSE account should use their existing account to submit a manuscript. Before creating a new account, please check whether you have previously registered with the journal.

ORCID iD

Authors are expected to provide an ORCID iD as part of the submission process. ORCID provides a unique and persistent digital identifier that helps distinguish researchers and ensures accurate attribution of scholarly work.

Authors should ensure that their ORCID information is correctly linked through the OJS system so that it can be included in the article metadata upon publication.

Authors who do not yet have an ORCID iD may register for an ORCID iD. Additional information is available on the ORCID website.

Information Required for Submission

Author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID iDs, and other metadata entered into the OJS submission system must correspond accurately with the information provided on the Title Page.

To maintain the integrity of the double-blind peer review process, authors must ensure that the Anonymous Article contains no author names, institutional affiliations, acknowledgements, or other information that could reveal the identity of the author(s).

Permissions and Originality

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material for which they do not hold the rights and for providing appropriate acknowledgement of any reproduced material.

Submission to IJRSE indicates that the manuscript is original, has not previously been published, and is not simultaneously under consideration for publication by another journal.

Once an article is accepted for publication, copyright remains with the author in accordance with the journal's copyright policy.
