Data and Reproducibility
1. Introduction
The International Journal of Theory and Application in Elementary and Secondary School Education (IJTAESE) is committed to promoting transparency, research integrity, and reproducibility in educational research. This policy follows the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and encourages responsible data sharing to support the verification and advancement of scientific knowledge.
2. Data Availability and Sharing
Authors are encouraged to share research data, analytical materials, instruments, and supporting documentation whenever ethically and legally permissible.
All research articles must include a Data Availability Statement specifying where supporting data can be accessed or explaining any restrictions.
Data involving children, students, teachers, or educational institutions must be managed in accordance with applicable privacy regulations, informed consent requirements, and research ethics standards. Personally identifiable or confidential information must not be publicly disclosed without appropriate authorization.
3. Research Transparency and Reproducibility
Authors must describe their research methods, sampling procedures, instruments, data collection, and analytical techniques in sufficient detail to support verification or replication.
Where applicable, authors are encouraged to share questionnaires, assessment rubrics, teaching interventions, learning materials, statistical scripts, and other relevant research materials.
IJTAESE encourages the use of recognized reporting guidelines, including CONSORT for randomized trials, STROBE for observational studies, PRISMA for systematic reviews, and COREQ or SRQR for qualitative research.
4. Data Repositories and Citation
Authors are encouraged to deposit supporting research materials in trusted repositories such as OSF, Zenodo, Figshare, or institutional repositories.
Shared datasets and materials should include appropriate documentation and be cited using persistent identifiers, such as DOIs, whenever available.
5. Data Availability Statement
Authors must include an appropriate statement in their manuscripts. Examples include:
Publicly Available Data:
"The data supporting the findings of this study are openly available at [repository name and DOI/URL]."
Available Upon Request:
"The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request, subject to applicable ethical and privacy restrictions."
Restricted Data:
"The research data are not publicly available due to participant confidentiality, institutional requirements, or ethical restrictions."
No New Data:
"No new data were created or analyzed in this study. Data sharing is not applicable."
6. Data Integrity and Post-Publication Concerns
Authors are responsible for maintaining the integrity of their research data and retaining relevant records in accordance with institutional and legal requirements. IJTAESE may request supporting data to verify research findings when concerns arise.
Suspected data manipulation, misrepresentation, or reproducibility issues will be investigated in accordance with COPE guidelines and may result in corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.
