Peer Review Process

The International Journal of Theory and Application in Elementary and Secondary School Education (IJTAESE) implements a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. The review process aims to ensure the originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, and relevance of submitted manuscripts.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo preliminary evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board to determine their suitability for the journal's aims and scope, compliance with author guidelines, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that meet these requirements proceed to peer review, while unsuitable submissions may be rejected without external review.

2. Peer Review Evaluation

Qualified reviewers are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief or designated editors to assess the manuscript's originality, research methodology, scientific contribution, clarity, and ethical compliance. Reviewers are generally expected to complete their evaluations within 3–4 weeks. Their recommendations may include acceptance, revision, or rejection.

3. Revision and Editorial Decision

Manuscripts requiring revision are returned to the authors through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform, accompanied by reviewers' comments. Authors must submit a revised manuscript and responses addressing the reviewers' recommendations.

The Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board evaluate the revisions and may request further review when necessary. Editorial decisions are made based on scientific merit, reviewer recommendations, and compliance with journal standards. Editorial meetings may be conducted to determine final acceptance or rejection.

4. Acceptance and Publication

Following acceptance, the Editor-in-Chief issues an official Letter of Acceptance (LoA) indicating the manuscript's acceptance and, where determined, its planned publication issue.

Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing, copyediting, layout preparation, and final proofreading before publication. The editorial team coordinates these processes and publishes the finalized articles through the journal's OJS platform according to the publication schedule.

5. Editorial Independence

All editorial decisions are based on scholarly quality, originality, methodological soundness, and ethical integrity. The Editor-in-Chief retains responsibility for final publication decisions, independently of authors' institutional affiliations or other external influences.

IJTAESE follows the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to maintain fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and accountability throughout the peer review process.
