Conflict of Interest Policy
The International Journal of Didactic Mathematics in Distance Education (IJDMDE) is committed to ensuring transparency and impartiality throughout the editorial and publication process. In accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, all parties involved in the publication process — including authors, reviewers, and editors — are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence the objectivity of their contributions.
A conflict of interest arises when an individual's personal, financial, professional, or institutional relationships or commitments could reasonably be perceived as influencing their judgment, decisions, or actions in the context of manuscript submission, peer review, or editorial decision-making. Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to, financial interests (such as funding, employment, consultancy, stock ownership, or honoraria), personal relationships (such as close collaborations, familial ties, or academic mentorship), intellectual or ideological commitments that could bias the evaluation of a manuscript, and institutional affiliations that may create competing interests.
For Authors
All authors are required to disclose any conflicts of interest at the time of manuscript submission. A conflict of interest disclosure statement must be included in the manuscript, placed after the Conclusion section and before the References. If no conflicts of interest exist, authors must explicitly state: "The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of this manuscript." Failure to disclose a conflict of interest may result in rejection of the manuscript, retraction of a published article, or other actions as determined by the Editorial Board in accordance with COPE guidelines.
For Reviewers
Reviewers are required to declare any conflicts of interest upon receiving a review invitation. Reviewers must decline to review a manuscript if they have any of the following relationships with the authors: a current or recent collaborative relationship within the past three years, a close personal or familial relationship, a direct competitive or adversarial relationship, or any financial interest in the outcome of the review. If a conflict of interest is identified after a review has commenced, the reviewer must immediately notify the handling editor and withdraw from the review process.
For Editors
Editors must recuse themselves from any editorial decision involving a manuscript in which they have a conflict of interest. In such cases, the manuscript will be assigned to another editor who has no conflict of interest with the authors or the content. Editors must not use information obtained through the editorial process for personal advantage or to disadvantage any author.
All disclosed conflicts of interest will be documented in the editorial management system and, where relevant, published alongside the final article to ensure full transparency to readers.
